[Music] Mike was telling me about this buoy Because it's like Jaws Tell me if I got this right Mike the Buoy is going to naturally Bob a little Bit and it's kind of a booing reverse The indication that a fish is on it is When he takes them just like how it is Right now you got to get the video on it See I'm gonna lays over on the side when it Lays up on its side then the fish is Taking the weight off of it and it's Floating back Let's test your theory [Music] Nick the raw tip is already bobbing a Little bit what's going to be the strong Indicators it's just going to slam wow Swordfish is out here drifting the Middle of the ocean and we've got a temp Outside the Rod's moving up and down We're just looking for a bite it's a Break in the rhythm of that ratchet so It just bounce use maybe half an inch or An inch that's been hitting the bait Most of the time then they got to get Them on there that's the tricky part you Know hook them with 2 000 feet of line Out but uh we're gonna sit here and keep Drifting watching that Rod tip and we See a fight try to entice them to eat it But once in a while it does bend over There just on there A lot of times those
Are foul hooked and you get some of them You lose a lot of those but See if we got a shot today All right let's do some ride watching There's a variation of baits These are Plantation key sword bits let Me see that hook That ovmc okay we don't really like a Bunch anymore but And you're gonna tie a 300 pound leader To it I believe you call that arms Length leader Yeah before we came out here Mike took In mind if I handle your bait Mike Laced this guy up A little dental floss A little dental floss he's giving him The secrets here people This is a dolphin belly Belly Bonita belly I'm gonna lay that down there We're gonna crimper that's what the Crimper's for [Music] You can tell you're fishing when you've Got a pair of crippers like this on the Boat We're hooked up on a shark fish Light And that fish starts swimming the weight Up you know on the tip of those light You want to speed up it a little bit Faster but right now you're just kind of Digging laying there just kind of level
Lines you know guide the line back and Forth Stop but the tip gets really light to Speed up towards but otherwise it sounds Good We're in 1550 feet of water drifting We've just hooked up a swordfish it's Going to take a minute to get it up Mike's on it He's an avid fisherman so we're in good Shape [Music] Now he's not reeling him up too fast He's not trying to horse him up too fast We're trying to get up and let him come Up with that lead [Applause] Small one would take forever to hand Crank up yeah We're gonna hang crazy like a breakaway Letting the light comes up it's a little Bit easier because you have to fight That light off You know a lot of things Gonna unclip it and bring it right on in The fish came off But that's about what it looks like it's Early yet we're gonna stay out here We're swordfishing All right so the captain has come back Up he's inspector debate it looks just Like it did when it went down so what The captain uh suspects is it was Probably foul hooks meaning hooked
Somewhere other than in the mouth when That happens with these guys Mike's got another one on the down rod They're all down rods but you know what I mean There's the light we'll talk about that Later it's dark down there if we put a Light on them And um We lost our fish But we're not giving up that easy right Andrea right So we brought him up from 1500 feet the Hooks were bare We're gonna reset our drift We're back out into 1600 feet of water We drifted about a mile and a half so We're just about where they were we've Had some bites we're gonna drop down Again So those are the little lights that are Down at the bait end of the leader like I said 1600 feet it is dark down there There's no light but everything's down There seems to give off some kind of Light from uh phosphorus things Little eyes So the light at the end of the bait does Attract the swordfish it brings them in Mike's actually lacing up a fresh bait All right They call me Dr Mike Dr Mike it is [Music] Foreign
[Applause] Which is like dental floss yep Like that Look at that Plantation key sword bit What a seamstress yeah Got some old socks I'm going to bring Around have you darn the holes Thanks Mike All right looks like we've had some Action on the buoy line yeah yeah Mike's Standing in that big launched Electric We're gaining on them [Music] Nick your Dart tip came off Mike this is a dark it's like a harpoon Deal And you need a little bit more than a Gaff Where he's going the wrong way we gained On him and got it within 100 feet and Now this Big Boy's taking more line back Out He's taking a run we don't want to put Much on him when that happens He is taking it he's taking it we're on To one this is a granddaddy We've had this fish on for about 20 Minutes Nick's showing him on the bottom Marker so here's a 300 feet you can see We're marking them that's probably where That thermoplan is like Uncle Mike was Saying that's so I marked there and he's Down there in his comfort zone Our women nursing this big guy in for

Fishing in the Florida Keys
The Florida keys are a great place to go for a fishing trip, especially if you are looking for some of the big fish of the Atlantic. You can target Bonefish, Amberjack, Tarpon, and more. Here are a few tips to help you get started with fishing in this area.
Tarpon
Tarpon are one of the most popular gamefish in the Florida Keys. In fact, it is possible to catch these magnificent fish all year long. They are especially active during the summer months. If you are new to tarpon fishing, you should book a trip with an experienced charter captain. He can teach you all the tricks of the trade.
There are several different techniques you can use to catch a tarpon. One of the best ways is to use topwater plugs. You can also use soft plastics or live bait. The best time to fish for tarpon in the Florida Keys is during the early spring, before they begin their migration.
During the late spring and summer, you can expect to find migratory tarpon migrating from the Marathon Key to the Marquesas Keys. However, they will remain in the Keys through the end of summer, so you can continue to fish for them.
Amberjack
Amberjack fishing in the Florida Keys is a great adventure for tourists. If you are traveling to the area, make sure you take an Amberjack fishing charter. This type of game fish is abundant in the Keys.
These large fish can weigh several hundred pounds and are a challenge to reel in. However, they are dependable eaters. Moreover, they can be tasty broiled or smoked.
The Greater Amberjack is the largest member of the Jack family. They are found in tropical waters across the world. It is commonly served in sushi restaurants as a Yellowtail.
It has a striking appearance. Typically, they display an amber stripe along their back and along the torso. Occasionally, the Greater Amberjack also has a bronze colored or light yellow stripe.
Bonefish
The Florida Keys is one of the best places to bonefish in the world. It is home to a variety of sports fish including tarpon, snook, and bonefish. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, it is important to know what to look for when angling for bonefish in Florida.
Bonefish are skittish, but not completely fearless. They are known to be the favorite prey of barracuda and sharks. But they can be difficult to catch. To make the most of your trip, follow these tips.
Use a variety of lures. Using jigs or live bait is a great way to catch bonefish. You can also use imitation flies. A perfect presentation can be the ticket to a big bite.
Be sure to use circle hooks to make releasing your fish a breeze. Also, remember to time your fight correctly. This will make a big difference in your overall catch.
